Serena Sutcliffe, MW: 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot, 5% Cabernet Franc. Intense, aromatic nose. So fresh and mineral on the palate throwing the fruit into relief. Nice, rounded, long finish with lots of roses.
Jamie Ritchie: Beautiful scent with richness and intensity. Very juicy, succulent, spicy fruit. Great structure and balance. Fresh, vibrant finish, with good grip and length. Very successful. 91-93

Serena Sutcliffe, MW: 80 % Sauvignon Blanc, 20% semillon, 100% barrel fermented, more than 50% oak aged. 7 ha of Sauvignon Blanc. Very refined, elegant nose. Rich and refined at the same time on the palate. So ripe and sweet. Long and complex. The two grape varieties have married in superb fashion.
Jamie Ritchie: Good balance and finesse - seamless and harmonious. Fresh, but also rich and full. Long lemony, mineral finish. Good complexity. Serious and successful. 93-95

Serena Sutcliffe, MW: A wonderful spicy/maritime nose that is pure St. Estèphe. Such a cherry taste. Seamless all through. This positively gleams with beauty and is exceptionally good.
Jamie Ritchie: Classy black fruit. Good richness and intensity. Salty and irony. Lovely cassis fruit. Long and elegant and showing more richness, fruit and class than many of its peers. Very good. 91-93

Serena Sutcliffe, MW: 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc. One sees the oak here at this early stage - the new oak is used for the Cabernet Sauvignon but not the Merlot. Beautiful fruit and health. Glossy.
Jamie Ritchie: Concentrated black fruit. All Cabernet is aged in new oak (no new oak for Merlot), so with 80% Cabernet this shows the oak. Healthy fruit. Good structure and length. Ripe, rich and has a lusciousness. Very successful. 90-92

Jamie Ritchie: Fragrant and classic. Bright with spicy, lemony freshness and excellent acidity. Passion fruit finish. A delicious Blanc de Lynch Bages - very successful. 91-93

Serena Sutcliffe, MW: 47% Cabernet Franc, 53% Merlot. Very scented nose. Very luscious and very plush. Structure overlaid with great richness. Plump in the middle. Roasted coffee beans at the end. A really refined signature married to volume and body.
Jamie Ritchie: Glossy fresh red and black fruits. Chewy fruit with tannic structure. Glossy, nicely balanced, with finesse and elegance. Blackcurrant fruit. Polished and seamless. Lovely rich concentration. Excellent length. 91-93

Jamie Ritchie: The first vintage under Domaine Clarence Dillon ownership. Only 28% of crop went into the Grand Vin. Lovely richness and concentration. Chocolate, coffee, leather and spice. Good length. An impressive first vintage. 91-93

"Pauillac" is a brilliant third element to Frederic Engerer`s team at Chateau Latour - a selection finalized after the completion of both the Grand Vin and Les Forts de Latour. This is a wonderful introduction to the legendary Chateau, its terroir and the extraordinary professionalism and skill of the team making these impressive wines.

THE WINE
Very classically styled with potential for ageing in its own right, and a staple of Latour`s production since 1990, Pauillac is genetically more a second wine to the Les Forts de Latour than a third wine. The blends of the two wines consist of a greater percentage of Merlot than Latour, allowing for a softer, rounded texture, and earlier drinking with the Pauillac including both young vines and the press wine.

A CLASSIC VINTAGE
2006 is a high quality vintage that may have been unfairly overlooked by many in the wake of the 2005`s high praise. Approachable now this has lovely rich Cabernet fruit, with the class, pedigree and structure that you would expect from Latour. Elegant, reserved and balanced, this is high quality classic claret.
