Charity Events
We are proud to support a number of different causes, in various different ways, throughout the year. Our wine auctioneers, Jamie Ritchie, Robert Sleigh and Eliza Osborne donate their time, advice and auctioneering skills to a diverse group of 501C3 charities and have helped raise millions of dollars at benefit auctions for art institutions, educational programs, health foundations and a variety of similar organizations.
On 12 May 2012 Sotheby’s will offer Finest and Rarest Wines Including Wines from the Cellar of Carl T. Lomboy, MD in New York.
Carl T. Lomboy, MD assembled a spectacular collection over twenty years. His comprehensive selection includes the greatest Bordeaux and Californian vintages from the last thirty years along with outstanding smaller selections from Burgundy, Italy, Portugal and Australia.
Highlights from elsewhere in the sale include an exquisite 1990 Assortment from Domain Romanée Conti as well as two extremely rare 3 liter Jeroboams of 2005 and 2006 Montrachet from DRC. The 946 lot sale is estimated to fetch $1.2/2.8 million.
Over the past 15 years the Nantucket Wine Festival has blossomed into one of the nation's most celebrated wine and food events. With the help of Nantucket landmark hotel, The White Elephant, most of this year's festival will be staged entirely in the heart of downtown Nantucket.
A spectacular dinner will be held at the White Elephant, followed by an auction of rare wines, large-bottle formats, and lifestyle packages, on Saturday, May 19th, at 7:00 pm at the White Elephant. This dinner will be the marquee event of this year's Festival, featuring the cuisine of Executive Chef Bernard Guillas of The Marine Room in San Diego and Executive Chef Frederick Bisaillon of the Brant Point Grill, paired with the wines of Veuve Clicquot and Numanthia.
The Auction (with auctioneer, Jamie Ritchie) will follow dinner and will feature rare wines, large-format bottles signed by the winemaker, and a variety of splendid and unusual "life-style" items. An event not to be missed. The Auction benefits the Nantucket Historical Association.
